Occipital Nerve Blocks for Pain in Lovejoy, Georgia

Occipital nerve blocks focus on pain linked to the nerves at the back of the head. Patients may ask about them after an injury, during ongoing neck pain, or when pain follows a pattern near the scalp and upper neck.

The key decision is whether the symptoms match the nerve being treated. Our pain management physician reviews your history and performs a focused exam before discussing treatment. The service isn't the right fit for every headache or neck complaint, so we look for signs that point to another cause.

Care is available through our Stockbridge practice for patients in Lovejoy and surrounding communities. A free consultation gives you a chance to discuss symptoms, past care, and suitable next steps.

  • Describe where the pain starts and where it travels.
  • Bring a list of current medicines and prior treatments.
  • Tell the physician about injuries, neck pain, and scalp sensitivity.
  • Ask how nerve localization affects the treatment plan.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

Questions About Occipital Nerve Block Treatment

When evaluating scope, how are occipital nerve blocks administered before final scope approval?

Palpation guidance helps the physician locate the tender occipital nerve before the injection. Premier Injury Specialists first reviews your symptoms and medical history. The physician then checks the treatment area, explains the medication plan, and discusses local anesthetic or steroid medication when appropriate. You can ask questions before agreeing to care, and the plan is based on your condition.

What should I confirm before agreeing to this treatment?

The treatment plan should identify the suspected nerve, the medication being considered, and the reason it fits your symptoms. Ask how the exam supports the treatment choice and what follow-up care involves. Our physician explains these points during the consultation, including when another pain source needs assessment before a nerve block.

Which symptoms make a nerve block worth discussing?

Pain near the back of the head or upper neck makes a nerve block worth discussing when tenderness follows the occipital nerve. Scalp sensitivity and pain that spreads from the neck can also matter. Our team checks the full pattern because similar symptoms can come from muscles, joints, medication issues, or other conditions.

When should I seek urgent care instead of scheduling a consultation?

Sudden severe head pain, new weakness, confusion, fainting, or major vision changes require urgent medical evaluation. A scheduled consultation suits ongoing symptoms without those warning signs. Tell the physician about any recent injury, new symptoms, or change in pain so the care plan addresses the right level of concern.

Why might this treatment not fit my pain?

A nerve block may not fit when the pain pattern does not point to the occipital nerve. The physician reviews your history and examines the tender area before recommending care. Other treatment needs may include medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or assessment of a different neck or head pain source.

What can change the cost of this treatment plan?

The recommended assessment, medication choice, and broader injury care can change the cost of the plan. Free consultations let you discuss those factors before treatment. We explain what the proposed service includes and how to request pricing information, but we don't publish a business-specific amount for this care.
