Medial Branch Blocks in Lovejoy, Georgia for Targeted Back and Neck Pain

Medial branch blocks are used when pain may come from facet joints in the spine. Patients may seek this care after an auto accident, workplace injury, sports injury, or ongoing back and neck pain.

The decision starts with a pain evaluation. Our physician reviews the pain pattern, physical findings, prior care, and relevant records. The block isn't a general treatment for every type of pain, so the assessment matters.

Patients in Lovejoy can use this page to understand the procedure's purpose and the questions to ask before agreeing to treatment. We explain the possible role of nerve targeting, imaging guidance, and local anesthetic in plain language.

  • Confirm which area of the spine is being assessed.
  • Bring relevant medical records and imaging when available.
  • Ask how the block fits your broader pain treatment plan.
  • Discuss medicines, allergies, and health conditions before treatment.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are targeted injections that place local anesthetic near small nerves linked to painful facet joints.

  • Unlike medication management, a block focuses on a specific nerve pathway and may help the physician assess whether that pathway contributes to pain.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this treatment for patients in Lovejoy and nearby communities as part of individualized pain care.

Process

Steps We Use For Medial Branch Blocks

1

Review symptoms and records

We review the pain pattern, physical findings, medical history, and available imaging before planning treatment.

2

Confirm the target nerves

The physician identifies the suspected medial branch nerves connected with the painful facet joint area.

3

Plan image-guided placement

Fluoroscopy guidance is used when appropriate to support controlled needle placement near the selected nerve pathway.

4

Discuss the injection

We explain local anesthetic, contrast dye when clinically appropriate, and the purpose of the block before treatment.

5

Connect findings to care

The physician explains what the treatment was intended to assess and discusses suitable next steps in the broader plan.

Why Patients Choose This Treatment Approach

A focused assessment before treatment

The decision starts with symptoms, examination findings, and the suspected pain source. This service is the wrong fit when the pain pattern does not point toward the targeted nerves.

Physician-LED pain care

Our Pain Management Physician connects the procedure to an individualized treatment plan. Patients can discuss medication management, rehabilitation guidance, and injury-related pain care in the same care setting.

Plain answers before a procedure

We explain the purpose of the block, the role of imaging guidance, and the next steps before treatment. Patients can raise concerns about needles, medicines, or prior procedures during the consultation.

What Targeted Nerve Blocks May Change

A targeted block may help clarify whether facet-related nerves contribute to back or neck pain.

The treatment gives the physician a focused way to assess one pain pathway.

Patients receive a plan tied to their symptoms, examination, and injury history.

Clear explanations help patients make informed choices about interventional pain care.

The broader plan can include movement support and other non-surgical care when appropriate.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions Patients Ask About Targeted Nerve Blocks

When planning ahead, how are medial branch blocks performed when setting up the service plan?

Contrast dye is used only when clinically appropriate, and fluoroscopy may guide needle placement near the selected nerve. Premier Injury Specialists first reviews your symptoms, examination findings, and treatment goals. The physician then explains local anesthetic, the suspected nerve target, and the purpose of the block before treatment. Patients can ask questions about risks, medicines, and other care options.

What does a pain physician check before recommending this procedure?

The pain physician checks your symptoms, physical findings, medical history, and available imaging before recommending treatment. The review looks for a pain pattern that may involve facet joints and medial branch nerves. Bring medication details and prior records when available. Our team uses that information to discuss fit, limits, and next steps without promising a specific result.

Which part of this treatment can change the price?

The treatment plan, clinical needs, and services included in care can change the price. Premier Injury Specialists discusses those details during a consultation because the right plan depends on your symptoms and assessment. No general amount applies to every patient. Ask for the care details and cost information tied to your recommended treatment.

Why might a doctor use fluoroscopy during a nerve block?

Fluoroscopy gives the physician live imaging while the needle is positioned near the selected nerve. The guidance supports controlled placement and helps the physician follow the planned treatment area. It doesn't make every patient a candidate for the procedure. Your physician reviews whether image guidance fits your clinical plan and explains the reason before treatment.

What should I bring to a first pain consultation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Medical records, imaging, medication details, and injury information help the physician assess your pain. Patients should also bring a list of health conditions and allergies. These details support a safer discussion about local anesthetic, contrast dye, and other treatment choices. Premier Injury Specialists uses the consultation to explain the plan and answer questions.

When should someone ask about a targeted block after an injury?

Ask about a targeted block when ongoing back or neck pain needs a focused assessment after an injury. A physician must first review the pain pattern and examination findings. People in Lovejoy may seek care after auto accidents, workplace injuries, or sports injuries. Severe sudden symptoms or new loss of function need urgent medical attention.

Who provides medial branch blocks for patients in this area?

Premier Injury Specialists provides medial branch blocks through physician-led pain management care. Our Pain Management Physician evaluates the suspected pain source and discusses whether a targeted block fits your treatment plan. Care may also include medication management, rehabilitation guidance, and injury-related pain treatment when appropriate.
