Scope and Service Overview for Avondale Estates

Medial branch blocks are used when pain may come from facet joints in the spine. They can help assess neck pain, back pain, and some arthritis-related pain after a clinical evaluation.

Patients often want to know what these blocks can identify. We focus on whether the targeted nerves appear connected to the painful area, then discuss what the findings mean for treatment planning.

The procedure has limits. It does not diagnose every source of pain, and it may not fit symptoms caused mainly by a disc, nerve root, muscle, or another condition. A pain management physician helps decide whether the test matches your symptoms and records.

  • Review whether the pain pattern fits possible facet joint involvement.
  • Discuss prior treatment, medicines, injuries, and relevant medical records.
  • Explain what the diagnostic block is intended to assess.
  • Plan follow-up care around the findings and your daily function.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are injections that test whether small spinal nerves carry pain from facet joints.

  • They help assess a possible pain source, while radiofrequency ablation is a separate treatment that may follow selected diagnostic findings.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this evaluation for patients in Avondale Estates and surrounding communities.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions About Medial Branch Blocks

Prior to the appointment, what conditions can medial branch blocks help identify during the on-site evaluation?

Facet joint pain is the main condition these blocks help assess. They may also clarify whether neck or back pain follows a facet-related pattern.

The block does not identify every cause of pain. We compare the findings with your exam, medical history, and other possible sources before discussing follow-up care.

How do I know whether this block fits my back pain?

Back pain fits this assessment when its pattern suggests possible facet joint involvement. Our physician reviews symptoms, records, medicines, and prior treatment before recommending a diagnostic block.

Disc pain, nerve-root pain, muscle pain, or another condition may call for a different plan. We explain that distinction during the consultation.

What should I bring to the first consultation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Medical records, imaging reports, medicine details, and injury information help us assess your condition. Bring any available notes from prior treatment and a list of symptoms.

Patients should also describe what worsens or eases the pain. Those details help our physician judge whether the targeted nerves could relate to the symptoms.

Which part of this treatment changes the price for Medial Branch Blocks?

The consultation, assessment, planned procedure, and follow-up needs can change the total cost. We review those parts before care is planned.

Premier Injury Specialists provides upfront pricing and offers free consultations. Patients can ask what each recommended service includes, so the care plan and cost discussion stay clear.

When is another pain treatment a better fit?

Another treatment may fit better when the symptoms point to a disc, nerve root, muscle, or condition outside the facet joints.

Our physician reviews the full clinical picture before recommending medial branch blocks. The care plan may include medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or another interventional treatment when appropriate.

Why might back pain return after a block?

Pain can return when the block does not address the main pain source or when several conditions affect the spine. A diagnostic block is an assessment, not a promise of lasting relief.

We review the response with your symptoms and exam findings. That discussion helps determine whether follow-up care should focus on another treatment approach.
