Medial Branch Blocks in Forest Park, Georgia: A Focused Pain Decision

Medial branch blocks are used when a pain pattern suggests that facet joints may be involved. These small joints sit along the spine, and nearby medial branch nerves carry pain signals from them.

The key decision is suitability. Our pain management physician reviews your symptoms, injury history, examination findings, and available records before discussing the procedure. A block isn't the right treatment for every back or neck condition, so the assessment matters.

Patients in the area may seek this care after auto accidents, workplace injuries, sports injuries, or ongoing musculoskeletal pain. We also coordinate broader care when medication management, physical rehabilitation guidance, or another intervention better matches the diagnosis.

  • Review the location and pattern of back or neck pain.
  • Discuss prior injuries, treatments, medicines, and relevant medical records.
  • Check whether facet-related pain fits the clinical picture.
  • Explain the injection plan and what the patient should expect.
  • Set out follow-up care and other treatment options.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are injections that place medicine near small nerves linked to facet joint pain.

  • A medial branch block helps assess a specific pain source, while radiofrequency ablation uses heat to treat selected nerve pathways for longer relief.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for patients in Forest Park and surrounding communities.

What Targeted Nerve Blocks Can Help You Decide

A focused block may help connect a pain pattern with a possible facet joint source.

The assessment gives you a specific treatment discussion instead of a broad plan for every type of back pain.

Clear next steps help you understand whether follow-up care or another intervention deserves consideration.

Physician-led review keeps the decision tied to your symptoms, records, and examination findings.

Process

How We Plan and Perform the Injection

1

Review Symptoms and Records

We review your pain pattern, injury history, medicines, prior treatment, and relevant medical records.

2

Confirm Treatment Suitability

The physician compares your symptoms and examination findings with the suspected facet joint pain source.

3

Plan Nerve Targeting

The treatment plan identifies the nerve area and considers fluoroscopy guidance for accurate needle placement.

4

Check the Injection Path

Contrast dye may be used to check the needle path before medicine is placed.

5

Explain Follow-Up Care

We explain the next step, discuss other care options, and arrange follow-up based on your treatment plan.

What Matters Before Choosing This Treatment

A focused fit check

Facet-related pain must fit the symptoms and examination findings before we discuss a targeted block. This treatment is the wrong job when another condition better explains the pain.

A clear procedure discussion

You’ll hear how the needle is guided, where the medicine is placed, and why each part of the plan matters. We answer questions before treatment begins.

Physician-LED pain care

Our care is led by a Pain Management Physician with board-certified medical expertise and personalized injury treatment plans.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions About Targeted Back and Neck Pain Care

How are medial branch blocks performed?

Local anesthetic is checked before the physician guides medicine toward the selected medial branch nerves. Premier Injury Specialists reviews your symptoms first, then uses fluoroscopy guidance and may use contrast dye to check the needle path. The physician explains the plan, the reason for each step, and follow-up care before treatment begins.

What makes a medial branch block the right fit?

Facet-related pain patterns and examination findings help determine whether a medial branch block fits. Our physician reviews your symptoms, injury history, movement limits, and prior care before recommending treatment. The block may be a poor fit when another condition better explains the pain, so the assessment comes first.

Why might a block not help my back pain?

A block may not help when the treated nerve is not the main source of pain. Other causes can include disc problems, nerve compression, muscle strain, or a different joint. We review the response with your overall examination and records, then discuss whether another treatment or referral makes more sense.

Which records should I bring to the consultation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Medical records, imaging reports, medication lists, and injury details help us assess your treatment options. Bring records from an auto accident, workplace injury, sports injury, or prior pain care when available. Our team can explain which information matters during your appointment and identify any next document needed for the review.

When should back or neck pain receive urgent medical attention?

New weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, severe numbness, or sudden major pain needs urgent medical assessment. These signs can point to a serious problem that requires prompt care. A scheduled pain consultation is appropriate for ongoing symptoms without those warning signs, while urgent symptoms should not wait for an injection discussion.

What changes the cost of this type of treatment?

The treatment plan, number of areas assessed, imaging guidance, and related follow-up can change the cost. Our team explains the services included in your plan before treatment. A free consultation gives you a chance to ask what the physician needs to review and how the proposed care will be organized.

What happens if the block does not fit my condition?

The physician discusses another care path when a medial branch block does not match your symptoms. Options may include medication management, physical rehabilitation guidance, additional evaluation, or another interventional treatment. We keep the plan tied to the diagnosis and explain why a different approach may better suit your pain.
