Facet joint injections for focused pain assessment in Forest Park

Facet joint injections target the small joints that connect the bones of the spine. These joints can contribute to pain in the neck or back, but similar symptoms can also come from discs, muscles, or nerves.

The decision rests on your symptoms, exam findings, medical history, and any available imaging. A targeted injection can form part of a wider plan that includes medication management, physical rehabilitation guidance, or other interventional care.

This page helps you decide whether a focused joint injection is worth discussing. It does not replace an individual medical assessment, and treatment results vary.

  • Review whether your pain pattern fits facet joint involvement.
  • Discuss medical history, current medicines, and prior treatments.
  • Ask how imaging guidance and each medicine will be used.
  • Confirm the follow-up plan before scheduling treatment.

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions patients ask about facet joint injections

How are facet joint injections administered?

Local anesthetic is checked first, then the physician uses fluoroscopy guidance to place the needle near the selected joint. Contrast dye may help confirm placement before steroid medication is delivered. Premier Injury Specialists explains each step before treatment and reviews your medical history, current medicines, and suitability during the consultation.

What does the first consultation check before scheduling treatment?

The first consultation checks whether your symptoms and examination findings fit facet joint pain. The review includes your pain pattern, movement limits, injury history, medical conditions, current medicines, and prior treatment. Available imaging may also guide the discussion. These details help the physician decide whether an injection belongs in your plan.

Which symptoms suggest another pain source needs review?

Pain that does not match the examination may point to a disc, nerve, muscle, or other source. Our team reviews changes in strength, sensation, movement, and pain pattern during assessment. The treatment plan may then focus on another service or further medical review when facet joint care does not fit.

When should I discuss an injection after an auto accident?

Discuss an injection after an auto accident when pain continues to limit movement or daily activity despite earlier care. Forest Park patients can review the injury history, current symptoms, and available records during a consultation. The physician then considers whether facet joint treatment fits the injury pattern and broader pain plan.

Why are contrast dye and steroid medication both discussed?

Contrast dye helps check placement, while steroid medication may address inflammation near the targeted joint. These substances have different roles in the procedure. The physician reviews allergies, current medicines, and health conditions before discussing whether each part belongs in your treatment plan.

What changes the treatment cost for this injection?

The treatment plan, medicine selection, assessment needs, and related care change the cost. A free consultation lets you discuss the recommended service and pricing details with our team. We do not provide a universal amount because each patient’s medical needs and planned care can differ.
