Occipital Nerve Blocks for Head Pain in Conley

Occipital nerve blocks focus on pain near the back of the scalp, upper neck, and base of the skull. They may suit patients whose symptoms suggest irritation of the occipital nerves or pain referred from the neck.

The key decision is not the headache label alone. Our physician considers the pain location, triggers, neck movement, scalp tenderness, past injury, and other symptoms before discussing treatment.

This page serves patients seeking a focused option for head and neck pain, including people recovering from auto accidents, workplace injuries, or sports injuries. The treatment is not the right fit for every headache, so a full pain evaluation remains the starting point.

  • Pain location around the back of the head and upper neck.
  • Symptoms that change with neck movement or touch.
  • Past injury, migraine history, or medication use.
  • Whether another cause needs review before an injection.
  • A treatment plan that matches the clinical assessment.

How Our Headache Treatment Helps You Decide

A focused fit check

The treatment decision starts with the pain pattern, neck findings, and medical history. An occipital nerve block is the wrong job when another cause needs different testing or care.

Physician-LED pain care

Our physician-led practice brings pain evaluation, medication management, rehabilitation guidance, and interventional treatment into one care plan when appropriate.

Plain answers before treatment

We explain why the treatment is being considered, what it targets, and which next steps make sense for your symptoms.

When this service is the right fit

A patient in Conley with pain that begins at the upper neck and travels across the scalp may ask whether the pain is coming from the neck or the occipital nerves. We assess the pattern, review prior injury and treatment, and discuss whether a nerve block belongs in the plan.

Process

How We Plan Occipital Nerve Block Care

1

Review the headache pattern

We discuss where the pain begins, how it travels, what triggers it, and how it affects movement or sleep.

2

Check the neck and nerve findings

The physician considers neck motion, scalp sensitivity, prior injuries, medication use, and other findings that may shape the diagnosis.

3

Discuss treatment suitability

We explain whether an occipital nerve block fits the assessment and identify when another service or further evaluation is more suitable.

4

Set the care plan

The agreed plan may include an interventional treatment, medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or follow-up care.

Headache Patterns And Treatment Fit

These patterns can overlap, so the medical assessment guides the treatment decision.

Tracy checked me in. Tony triaged me and Dr Scott took care of me. They made me feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. I don't think I've ever had a doctor's visit this WONDERFUL! I barely felt a thing and as a person who is terribly afraid of needles, they took all my fears away and provided an excellent experience. Tony plays your favorite music during the procedure and it lasts about one song. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!!

Questions About Occipital Nerve Block Treatment

How painful is the injection itself for Occipital Nerve Blocks?

Injection discomfort varies, but the visit includes an explanation of the treatment and a review of your concerns first. Needle fear is common, especially after severe pain has already affected daily life. Tell us about your concern during the consultation. Our team can explain each step in plain language and discuss whether the treatment fits your situation.

Which symptoms should be checked before scheduling treatment?

Head pain with unusual or changing symptoms needs medical review before scheduling an occipital nerve block. Bring information about pain location, onset, triggers, neck symptoms, current medicines, and past diagnoses. The assessment also considers whether another cause needs attention. That review helps our physician choose a safer and more suitable care plan.

When is a different treatment more suitable?

A different treatment may be more suitable when the pain pattern does not point toward the occipital nerves. Neck disorders, medication concerns, migraine features, or other medical causes can change the plan. Our physician reviews the full history and examination before recommending an injection. The plan may instead include medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or further evaluation.

Why might neck pain cause pain in the head?

Neck pain may refer into the head because nerves and joints in the upper neck share pain pathways with the scalp. This pattern can resemble migraine or tension pain, so the symptoms need careful review. We assess neck movement, pain spread, tenderness, and injury history. Those details help determine whether a nerve block is worth discussing.

Who provides occipital nerve block care in Conley?

Premier Injury Specialists provides occipital nerve block care in Conley through physician-led pain management. The consultation covers your symptoms, history, current treatment, and goals. Our team also treats injury-related pain, back and neck pain, joint pain, and nerve pain. Each recommendation follows the findings from your individual assessment.

What changes the cost of this treatment for Occipital Nerve Blocks?

The consultation, medical assessment, treatment plan, and services selected for your condition shape the cost. Premier Injury Specialists offers Free Consultations for an initial discussion of your symptoms and options. Ask about the expected services during that conversation. We explain the plan before moving forward with treatment.
