What Stellate Ganglion Block Covers

A stellate ganglion block is an injection near a group of sympathetic nerves at the lower front of the neck that may reduce certain pain signals.

  • A stellate ganglion block differs from medication management because it targets a nerve pathway while medication works through the body or nervous system.
  • Care in Stockbridge includes assessment and treatment planning for patients from surrounding communities.

About

What this neck nerve treatment involves

A stellate ganglion block targets sympathetic nerves near the lower front of the neck. These nerves can affect pain signals and other nerve-related symptoms in the upper body. The decision starts with a focused pain evaluation. We review the location, quality, and pattern of your pain, along with injury history, medicines, and prior treatment. The block may be considered when the clinical picture supports it. This treatment isn't right for every patient. Your plan may include medication management, rehabilitation guidance, imaging referrals, or another intervention. We explain the reason for each option and the follow-up needed after treatment.

Process

How we plan and deliver a stellate ganglion block

1

Review symptoms and medical history

We document your pain pattern, injury history, medicines, and prior care. This helps us check whether the treatment fits your condition.

2

Confirm treatment suitability

We discuss the purpose of the block, possible risks, other options, and the questions you want answered before moving forward.

3

Prepare the treatment plan

We record the planned approach, supporting clinical information, and follow-up needs in your care plan.

4

Explain aftercare and next steps

After treatment, we explain what to watch for, how to follow the plan, and when to contact the office about concerns.

What to prepare before discussing a neck nerve block

Bring information that helps us connect your symptoms with your full treatment history.

  • A current list of medicines and supplements
  • Reports or images from earlier evaluations
  • Details about when the pain began and where it travels
  • Information about prior injections, therapy, or pain medicines

Tracy checked me in. Tony triaged me and Dr Scott took care of me. They made me feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. I don't think I've ever had a doctor's visit this WONDERFUL! I barely felt a thing and as a person who is terribly afraid of needles, they took all my fears away and provided an excellent experience. Tony plays your favorite music during the procedure and it lasts about one song. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!!

Questions patients ask about this neck nerve block

Who provides stellate ganglion block care in Stockbridge?

Premier Injury Specialists provides stellate ganglion block care in Stockbridge through physician-led pain management. The consultation includes a review of symptoms, injury history, medicines, and treatment goals. Our physician explains whether the block fits your condition and discusses alternatives when another approach better matches your needs.

Who should not receive a stellate ganglion block?

Patient safety, medical history, current medicines, and the reason for treatment determine whether a block is appropriate. A consultation identifies factors that could increase risk or change the plan. Tell us about allergies, blood-thinning medicines, infections, pregnancy, and major health conditions so we can assess suitability carefully.

What changes the cost of this treatment?

Treatment cost depends on the consultation, clinical assessment, planned procedure, and follow-up needs. Premier Injury Specialists offers free consultations and upfront pricing, so you can discuss the expected charges before choosing a plan. Insurance questions should be reviewed with the office and your health plan because coverage rules differ.

What should I bring to the first consultation?

Your medicine list, imaging reports, injury records, and symptom history help us assess the treatment fit. Bring notes about pain location, burning or temperature changes, movement limits, and prior care. Patients from Stockbridge and nearby communities can use the consultation to ask about risks, alternatives, and aftercare.

How is a stellate ganglion block different from an epidural injection?

A stellate ganglion block targets sympathetic nerves near the lower neck, while an epidural injection targets medication delivery near spinal nerve structures. The two treatments address different clinical patterns. We compare the pain location, suspected source, examination findings, and prior treatment before recommending one option.

What happens after the block?

Aftercare focuses on symptoms to watch for, activity guidance, and follow-up instructions. The treatment record helps us compare your symptoms with the goals set during planning. Call the office about unexpected or worsening concerns, and seek urgent medical care for severe breathing trouble, sudden weakness, or other emergency symptoms.

Do I need a primary care referral?

A primary care referral may depend on your health plan and personal care needs. Contact the office with your insurance details and current records so we can explain the consultation process. Our physician can then review your symptoms and determine whether a stellate ganglion block belongs in your treatment plan.

When Customers Call Us About Stellate Ganglion Block

1

Persistent Pain After a Car Accident

Pain can continue after an auto accident even when the first visit focused on visible injuries. The location, burning quality, and spread of symptoms matter when we assess possible nerve involvement. Bring accident records, imaging reports, and your medicine list to a consultation so we can document the pattern and discuss suitable treatment options.

2

Concern About Neck Injection Risks

A neck injection can feel stressful, especially if you have fear of needles or past treatment concerns. Our physician reviews the purpose, risks, alternatives, and aftercare before any decision. Write down your questions and describe any medicine or health issue that could affect the treatment plan during your visit.

3

Pain That Limits Daily Movement

Pain that makes work, sleep, or normal movement harder deserves a focused review. A stellate ganglion block may be considered only when the symptoms and examination support that choice. Schedule a consultation to discuss your function, prior care, and whether medication, rehabilitation guidance, or an interventional option best fits your needs.

Our Other Services

Knee Pain TreatmentKnee pain can interfere with stairs, walking, exercise, and work demands. A focused evaluation considers cartilage wear, arthritis, prior injury, and movement limits, then guides medication, therapy, or joint injection options.
Auto Accident Injury EvaluationAfter a crash, neck pain, back pain, or numbness can make daily tasks difficult. A clinical exam reviews collision injuries, range of motion, and nerve symptoms, then guides imaging referrals and treatment planning for a clearer recovery path.
Epidural Steroid InjectionsLeg or arm pain from an irritated spinal nerve can limit walking, lifting, or sleep. An epidural steroid injection places medication near the affected nerve root to calm inflammation and support movement during rehabilitation.
Facet Joint InjectionsArthritis in the small facet joints can cause painful, restricted neck or back movement. Facet joint injections deliver anesthetic and corticosteroid near the irritated joint, helping identify the pain source and improve everyday function.
Medial Branch BlocksBack or neck pain from facet joints may continue despite ordinary treatment. Medial branch blocks temporarily numb the nerves serving those joints, helping confirm the source and guide later radiofrequency ablation when appropriate.
Occipital Nerve BlocksPain at the back of the head can spread toward the scalp, eyes, or temples. An occipital nerve block targets irritated occipital nerves with local anesthetic and steroid, reducing headache symptoms and improving comfort.
