Stellate Ganglion Block for Focused Pain Care in Morrow, Georgia

A stellate ganglion block may suit patients whose pain involves nerve signals in the head, neck, upper chest, or upper limb. The decision starts with the pain pattern, health history, prior treatment, and the goal for the block.

The main choice is whether an interventional treatment fits the diagnosis and current symptoms. Our pain management physician reviews the findings and explains what the block may and may not address. This page focuses on what patients can expect after treatment, including warm sensation, temporary hoarseness, eyelid drooping, injection soreness, and changes in pain.

Care is available through the Stockbridge office for patients from Morrow, Clayton County, McDonough, Locust Grove, and nearby South Metro Atlanta communities. The local decision is access to physician-led pain care through the established service area, not a separate treatment method.

  • Review the pain pattern and treatment goal before scheduling.
  • Share current medicines, allergies, health conditions, and prior procedures.
  • Ask which post-treatment changes should be reported.
  • Confirm the follow-up plan and next treatment decision.

Service Overview

Stellate ganglion block is an injection-based pain treatment that places medicine near nerves in the neck to affect pain signals.

  • This treatment differs from medication management because it targets a nerve pathway through an interventional procedure, while medication management uses prescribed drugs as part of a broader plan.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for patients in Morrow and surrounding communities.

What This Nerve Block May Change for You

A focused nerve block may help clarify whether a nerve pathway contributes to your pain.

Pain relief may support better movement and make daily activity easier to discuss during follow-up.

A physician-led review gives you a treatment decision tied to your symptoms and health history.

Clear aftercare guidance helps you recognize changes that should be reported.

The treatment can fit a broader plan that includes rehabilitation guidance or medication management when appropriate.

Process

How We Plan and Review the Nerve Block

1

Review symptoms and health history

We discuss the pain pattern, current medicines, allergies, prior treatment, and the goal you want the block to address.

2

Check whether treatment fits

Our pain management physician considers the diagnosis, relevant health factors, and whether an interventional block suits the current care plan.

3

Explain the injection and aftercare

We describe the treatment, possible changes afterward, and the questions or symptoms that should be raised during follow-up.

4

Set the next care decision

Follow-up findings help guide the next step, which may include continued observation, medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or another treatment.

How We Approach This Nerve Block

Assessment before treatment

The first decision is fit. We review your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goal before planning an injection. The block is not the right job for every pain pattern, especially when the symptoms point to another diagnosis or a different treatment need.

Plain-language aftercare

Patients need more than a procedure name. We explain what warm sensation, temporary hoarseness, eyelid drooping, and injection soreness may mean, then tell you what to discuss during follow-up.

Individualized pain planning

The block sits within a wider care plan when appropriate. Our physician may coordinate pain evaluation, medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or other interventional care based on your condition.

Tracy checked me in. Tony triaged me and Dr Scott took care of me. They made me feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. I don't think I've ever had a doctor's visit this WONDERFUL! I barely felt a thing and as a person who is terribly afraid of needles, they took all my fears away and provided an excellent experience. Tony plays your favorite music during the procedure and it lasts about one song. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!!

Questions Patients Ask About This Nerve Block

When comparing options, what should I expect after a stellate ganglion block when setting up the service plan?

Warm sensation may occur after a stellate ganglion block, and Premier Injury Specialists reviews that change with you. Temporary hoarseness, eyelid drooping, or injection soreness may also appear after treatment. Our team explains what to watch for and how to raise concerns during follow-up. Seek urgent medical care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, including trouble breathing or fainting.

How does the physician decide if this treatment fits my pain for Stellate Ganglion Block?

The pain pattern, health history, and treatment goal guide the fit decision. We review where the pain occurs, how it behaves, and what care you have already tried. The assessment also considers medicines, allergies, and other health concerns. A different treatment may be more suitable when the symptoms do not point toward a nerve pathway addressed by this block.

For Stellate Ganglion Block, which records should I bring to the consultation?

Relevant medical records help our physician understand your diagnosis and prior care. Bring a current medicine list, allergy details, imaging reports you have, and notes about earlier treatments. Include information about an injury when it caused the pain. These details help us discuss the treatment goal and plan the next assessment step.

When should I call about soreness or eyelid changes?

Injection soreness or eyelid changes should be reported when they concern you, worsen, or do not match your care instructions. Our team can explain which symptoms fit the expected follow-up discussion. Severe swelling, trouble breathing, fainting, or rapidly worsening symptoms need urgent medical attention. Keep your discharge guidance available after treatment.

Why might pain relief not be the only goal of the block?

Pain relief is one goal, but the broader aim is a safer treatment decision and better function. We also consider movement, daily activity, and how the result affects the next care step. Rehabilitation guidance or medication management may remain part of the plan. Results vary, so follow-up matters after the injection.

What part of this treatment changes the final cost?

The recommended assessment and care plan are the main cost drivers. The consultation, medical review, procedure-related care, and follow-up needs may affect the final amount. We discuss the plan before treatment and answer cost questions during the consultation. No general figure applies to every patient.
