Occipital Nerve Blocks in Morrow, Georgia for focused pain care

Occipital nerve blocks are considered for patients whose pain may involve the nerves at the back of the head. The visit focuses on your symptoms, pain pattern, medical history, and treatment goals.

This page addresses what happens after the injection, including scalp numbness, injection soreness, headache tracking, and activity guidance. Those details help you decide whether to ask about a block during a consultation.

A nerve block isn't right for every pain pattern. We use the assessment to decide whether this treatment fits, or whether another part of your pain plan needs attention first.

  • Describe where your pain starts and where it travels.
  • Tell us about numbness, tingling, tenderness, or changes in sensation.
  • Bring relevant medical records and imaging when available.
  • Ask what activity guidance applies after treatment.
  • Discuss how you will track headaches and other symptoms.

Service Overview

Occipital nerve blocks are injections near the occipital nerves that may help manage certain head and neck pain patterns.

  • A nerve block differs from medication management because it places treatment near a targeted nerve instead of relying only on oral medicine.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this treatment for patients in Morrow and nearby communities.

How we approach a nerve block decision

A focused symptom review

Your pain pattern matters because head and neck pain can have different causes. We review the pattern before discussing a block.

Plain guidance after treatment

We explain possible injection soreness and changes in sensation, then discuss what to track at home.

A clear treatment limit

Occipital nerve blocks aren't the right job for every headache or neck pain pattern. Another evaluation may be needed when symptoms point elsewhere.

Process

How we plan and provide occipital nerve blocks

1

Review symptoms and medical history

We discuss your pain pattern, prior care, medicines, and relevant health history.

2

Examine the occipital nerve area

We check the area linked to your symptoms and assess whether a targeted nerve block fits your condition.

3

Explain the treatment plan

We explain the injection, possible soreness, changes in sensation, and activity guidance before treatment.

4

Track symptoms after treatment

You record headaches, numbness, soreness, and other changes so we can discuss your response at follow-up.

What targeted nerve treatment may change

A focused injection may help clarify whether the occipital nerves contribute to your pain.

Symptom tracking gives you and our team a better view of changes after treatment.

Clear activity guidance helps you make safer choices while your symptoms settle.

A consultation gives you space to discuss concerns before deciding on treatment.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

Questions about targeted nerve block care

What should I expect after an occipital nerve block for Occipital Nerve Blocks?

Scalp numbness or injection soreness may occur after an occipital nerve block. Premier Injury Specialists explains what to watch for before you leave. Track headaches, pain changes, and activity tolerance as directed. Contact the care team about severe, new, or worsening symptoms so they can advise you on the next step.

How does the first consultation decide if a block fits?

The first consultation reviews your pain pattern, health history, medicines, and focused exam findings. We look at whether the occipital nerves could relate to your symptoms. Relevant records and imaging can help, but the plan still depends on your clinical assessment. Free consultations give you time to ask questions before treatment.

Which symptoms should I track after treatment?

Headache location, pain strength, numbness, soreness, and activity changes are useful symptoms to track. A brief record helps connect changes with daily activity and treatment timing. Bring those notes to follow-up so our team can review what changed. Seek prompt medical advice for symptoms that feel severe or unusual.

When should activity guidance change after the injection?

Activity guidance should follow the plan given for your symptoms and treatment. Injection soreness or altered sensation can affect how comfortable movement feels. We explain what to watch for during the visit and discuss questions before you resume normal routines. Do not push through a symptom that is new or worsening.

Why might a different treatment be needed?

A different treatment may be needed when your pain pattern does not point to the occipital nerves. Head and neck pain can involve muscles, joints, discs, or other nerves. Our assessment helps separate those possibilities and guides the next discussion. A nerve block should match the clinical problem being evaluated.

What changes the cost of this treatment plan for Occipital Nerve Blocks?

The assessment, treatment plan, medical records, and follow-up needs can change the cost discussion. Premier Injury Specialists explains the planned services during the consultation. We don't publish a treatment amount in this page because the care plan must match your symptoms. Free consultations let you ask about costs before proceeding.
