Occipital Neuralgia Treatment in Avondale Estates

Occipital neuralgia treatment is for people with pain that follows the occipital nerves, often near the back of the head, upper neck, or scalp. The pain may feel electric, burning, sharp, or sore, and neck movement can affect symptoms.

The key decision is whether nerve-focused care fits your symptoms and exam findings. We also consider medication use, past injuries, muscle tension, and daily movement before discussing treatment choices.

This page serves patients seeking focused care for occipital neuralgia, not a general headache visit. Our team may also guide physical rehabilitation, medication management, or injury-related pain care when those services fit the plan.

  • Describe where the pain starts and where it travels.
  • Bring a list of current medicines and prior pain treatments.
  • Tell us about neck injuries, auto accidents, workplace injuries, or sports injuries.
  • Ask which treatment options fit your symptoms and movement goals.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

Questions about occipital neuralgia treatment

What treatments can relieve occipital neuralgia pain for Occipital Neuralgia Treatment?

Nerve blocks may help relieve occipital neuralgia pain when the symptoms and exam support that approach. Physical therapy guidance, anti-inflammatory medication, and muscle relaxation may also form part of care. The right plan depends on your pain pattern, neck movement, injury history, and current medicines. We explain the options before treatment begins.

Who provides occipital neuralgia treatment for patients in Avondale Estates?

Premier Injury Specialists provides occipital neuralgia treatment for patients in Avondale Estates and surrounding communities. A Pain Management Physician evaluates the pain pattern and discusses medication management, rehabilitation guidance, and minimally invasive treatments when appropriate. The consultation also gives you time to ask about risks, benefits, and other care choices.

How does the first appointment address pain behind the head?

The first appointment reviews the location, quality, and pattern of pain behind the head and upper neck. We also discuss neck movement, injury history, current medicines, and past treatment. Those details help shape the treatment discussion. Bring available medical records and a current medication list if you have them.

Which symptoms suggest that nerve-focused care may fit?

Sharp, burning, electric, or scalp-sensitive pain near the back of the head may support a nerve-focused discussion. Neck tenderness or pain that changes with movement can add useful context. These symptoms do not confirm one cause by themselves. Our team evaluates the full pattern before recommending a treatment path.

When should head and neck pain receive urgent medical attention for Occipital Neuralgia Treatment?

Sudden severe headache, new weakness, confusion, fainting, or vision changes need urgent medical attention. These warning signs can point to problems that require prompt evaluation outside a routine pain visit. For ongoing nerve-like pain without those warning signs, schedule a pain assessment so the symptoms and treatment options can be reviewed.

Why might physical therapy guidance be part of this care?

Physical therapy guidance may help when neck movement, posture, or muscle tension affects your pain. The plan can support safer movement and daily function alongside other treatment. It is not a substitute for urgent care when warning signs appear. We include rehabilitation guidance only when it fits the findings and your goals.
