Occipital Neuralgia Treatment for Morrow Patients

Occipital neuralgia treatment is designed for people with sharp, aching, or burning pain near the back of the head and upper neck. The work begins with a focused pain evaluation, then moves toward a plan that fits the symptoms and health history.

The key decision is whether an injection belongs in the plan. We consider medication management, rehabilitation guidance, and minimally invasive treatment when appropriate. This page helps patients in Morrow decide what to discuss during a consultation, especially when pain continues after an injury or affects daily function.

An injection may not fit every headache or neck pain pattern. Our team explains the limits of each option and coordinates care around the diagnosis.

  • Describe where the pain starts and where it travels.
  • Bring information about current medicines and past treatments.
  • Discuss injury history, neck pain, and changes in daily movement.
  • Ask which treatment options fit the assessment.
  • Review follow-up care and realistic expectations.

How We Plan Occipital Neuralgia Care

1

Review the pain pattern

We discuss where the pain starts, how it feels, and whether it travels into the scalp or neck.

2

Check medical history

We review injuries, current medicines, past treatments, and health factors that may affect care.

3

Choose the treatment path

We connect the assessment to medication management, rehabilitation guidance, or an interventional option when appropriate.

4

Explain the injection plan

If an injection fits, we discuss the injection site, medication, guidance method, risks, and expected follow-up.

Tracy checked me in. Tony triaged me and Dr Scott took care of me. They made me feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. I don't think I've ever had a doctor's visit this WONDERFUL! I barely felt a thing and as a person who is terribly afraid of needles, they took all my fears away and provided an excellent experience. Tony plays your favorite music during the procedure and it lasts about one song. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!!

Questions About Occipital Neuralgia Care

What type of doctor treats occipital neuralgia for Occipital Neuralgia Treatment?

Premier Injury Specialists provides physician-led pain management for occipital neuralgia. Our Pain Management Physician evaluates nerve-related head pain and considers medication, rehabilitation guidance, or interventional care. The right plan depends on the symptom pattern and health history. We explain each option in plain language during the consultation.

Which part of the visit decides whether an injection fits?

The symptom pattern and medical history help decide whether an injection fits. We review pain location, neck symptoms, prior treatment, current medicines, and injury history. The assessment also considers whether another condition needs attention first. You receive a treatment discussion before any procedure is planned.

How does ultrasound guidance relate to an injection plan?

Ultrasound guidance may help the physician assess the treatment area and plan the injection approach. It does not replace the medical assessment or determine whether treatment is suitable. Our team discusses the injection site, medication, and risks before proceeding. The method used depends on the care plan.

When should I seek urgent medical care for head pain?

Sudden severe head pain, new weakness, confusion, fainting, or trouble speaking needs urgent medical evaluation. Occipital neuralgia care is not a substitute for emergency assessment. If symptoms feel new, severe, or different from your usual pain, seek urgent medical care first. Our consultation is for planned pain evaluation.

Why might medication management be discussed before an injection?

Medication management may be discussed first when your current medicines, health history, or symptom pattern affect procedure safety. We review what you take and what you have already tried. That review helps shape a safer plan. An injection is considered only when it fits the medical assessment.

What should I bring to a first pain consultation for Occipital Neuralgia Treatment?

Medical records, imaging reports, medication information, and injury details can help guide the first consultation. Bring a list of treatments you have tried and note what changed your pain. These details help our team understand the pattern and discuss suitable next steps. You can also bring questions about injections and follow-up care.
